Cats and Cat Lovers of Broward County! Unite!

Welcome to the Cat Nap Pack. This team is dedicated to the many Cat Lovers that go above and beyond to help other Cat Lovers....specifically all of the homeless cats cared for by the Humane Society of Broward County and their future families.

The Humane Society of Broward County has been instrumental in helping to end the plight of feline overpopulation by implementing low-cost spay/neuter programs for cats and by participating in trap and release programs for feral cats.

Your hosts for this furry Pack are Felix and Oscar...

...two of the luckiest cats around. They were adopted by a family who makes sure they know how much they are loved every day of the year, but their story could have been very different.

These adorable cats were born on the mean streets of South Florida to a cat who was not spayed because it was not common practice in her owner's native country. This was the cat's fifth litter. Felix and Oscar were two of four kittens.

Because they lived on a busy street, two of the kittens wandered out and were hit by a car and killed. Chances were slim that the remaining kittens would survive. One day a fairy godmother named Winnie talked to the owner and convinced him not only to spay the mama cat to prevent future litters, but to allow her to find homes for the two surviving kittens.

She knew these two kittens needed to be socialized and hoped she could find them a home together because they were bonded. She knew of two Dads who were heartbroken because they had recently lost their beloved cat, Ernie, and was hoping they'd agree to give these two a chance. They did! The Dads agreed to take both. Felix and Oscar stole their hearts. They brought these furballs into their home and their lives and everyone lived happily ever after.

This story had a happy ending, but many do not. The HSBC will continue to promote spay and neuter of cats and trap and release programs for feral cats so they are not put through the tragedy that most endure.

These lucky guys want to let other Cat Lovers know that even though cats can't physically come to the Walk for the Animals, they will be there in spirit, and hopefully photos.

Help the Humane Society of Broward County continue its spay and neuter programs. Join the Cat Nap Pack and fundraise or make a donation. You'll be working with other cat lovers who understand your love of cats.

Love, Felix and Oscar

See why so many of us Walk each year...
